Lake Argyle is the biggest man-made lake in Australia. It is part of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and is located near the East Kimberley (Western Australia) town of Kununurra. It’s several times larger than Sydney Harbour and holds up to 32 million cubic metres of water. It’s so huge that it’s classified as an inland sea. There is a great picnic area at the base of the dam wall to relax and have a bite to eat or do some fishing on the banks of the Ord River. This is also a good place to spot fresh water crocodile’s sunbaking on the water’s edge.
